During the whole of October herds of cows, horses and sheep which are not penned in come down from the mountains where they have spent the summer grazing.

Winter is very severe in this area and the climate down on the plain is milder. At this time of year it is common to see on the cabaneres (traditional animal tracks) large numbers of herds moving slowly but without stopping down towards the lowland.
