Description

The Pallars Jussà has been a focus of interest for geologists since the 1960s due to its geological relevance. Research works have been the main activity, whether it was university research from institutions around the world or research done by international oil companies who send their geologists to participate in training.

Geotopes

Llimiana geotope: Located at the viewpoint of Llimiana, it offers an excellent panorama of a great part of the Western Pyrenees, with the central and southern part of the Tremp basin on the foreground.

Claret geotope: Located at the hermitage of Santa Helena de Claret, it offers a great panorama of the Central Pyrenees, with the most eastern part of the Tremp basin and Conca Dellà on the foreground.

Vilamolat geotope: Located at Vilamolat, it offers views over the landslided slope of Puigcercós Vell, in an area were you can see the traces of the sea that occupied the Tremp basin 50 million years ago.

Comiols geotope: Located at the Comiols pass, it offers a good view of the pre-Pyrenenan and the Western Pyrenees orography, with the Conca Dellà on the foreground.
