Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park

Description

At the heart of the Pyrenees in the province of Lleida lies the epitome of a high mountain landscape. The magnificent scenery and the rich and varied flora and fauna make this a truly unique location. The park is carpeted with century-old forests of black pine and fir trees and is irrigated by two hundred high mountain lakes, where the chamois, the capercaillie, the marmot and the famous bearded vulture take refuge.

La Vall Fosca is the gate to the southern part of the only National Park in Catalonia, and its small villages still preserve its traditional charm.

Five different routes are recommended to get to know these spectacular landscapes where the traces of mankind are easily seen.

Route 1: The ravine of Pigolo

Route 2: The valley of estany Tort

Route 3: Path to the estany de Saburó

Route 4: Path to Rus

Route 5: The railway path
