La Terreta

Description

La Terreta is a big pre-Pyrenenan depression around the river Noguera Ribagorçana that has historically been the border between Aragon and Catalonia.

This is a remarkable spot for the observation of the fauna, especially carrion birds and birds of prey. You can see the griffon vulture, the Egyptian vulture, the bearded vulture, the peregrine falcon, the Eurasian eagle owl, the short-toed eagle, the golden eagle, the booted eagle, the common buzzard or the common kestrel.

To make the best out of this experience and recognise the fauna, it is interesting to visit the Casal del Voltors (Vultures' house), where you will find information and guidance about the watching routes, such as the Valley of the Vultures route.

Nowadays la Terreta is part of the natural interest space Vall Alta de Serradell - Terreta - Serra de Sant Gervàs .
