Collegats Gorge

Description

The Collegats gorge is a natural pass between Pallars Jussà and Pallars Sobirà. It is a 5 km long crack opened between high rock walls where the river Noguera Pallaresa flows heading south. Its main landmark is l'Argenteria, a rock formation of unique shaped travertines formed by a water spring in the rock wall which inspired both Maragall, the poet, and Gaudí, the architect.

Together with the Rocs de Queralt, this gorge is part of the natural interest space of Noguera Pallaresa-Collegats, or Collegats-Queralt, within the PEIN, a Catalan plan to protect natural areas of interest. It belongs as well to the European ecological network Natura 2000.
