When summer is over, the autumn is a time of few festivals and celebrations. Nevertheless in the countryside it marks the start of a very important period as it is sowing time.

Barley and corn are the main crops in El Pallars Jussà and it is now after the land has been ploughed that the farmers, weather permitting, sow what will be the next harvest. "Quan l'octubre és arribat, sembra el sègol, l'ordi i el blat" (When October comes, sow rye, barley and corn).
