Hydroelectric Museum in Capdella

Museu Hidroelèctric de Capdella

Description

In 1914 the first hydroelectric power station was built in Cabdella. Nowadays its facilities transformed into a museum give you the change to visit four elements: the reservoirs, the channelling water, the waterfalls and at last the turbines in the power plant itself. A fifth element could be added here; the conduction of the energy to the consumption centres.

This museum will not only introduce you in the hydroelectric power world, but also into the social context of the arrival of these power plants to the Pyrenees. It will also explain you why this plant was built in a valley so far away from the industry centres at the beginning of the 20th century.
