Arbul Castle

Arbul Castle

Description

This castle protected the access to the place where the village of Arbul was located, and where the church of the Mare de Déu d’Arbul can still be found. This is the typical example of a border village from the 11th century.

The tower, in a poor conservation condition, had at least a floor of horizontal defence. There is an arrowslit still visible in the second floor, which can lead to think, according to the size of the tower, that there was once a second one.

History

Despite the village of Arbul being documented from the half of the 11th century, there are few references to the castle.
