The Rafter's Museum

Description

The Rafter's Museum at La Pobla de Segur is a centre aimed at the study and dissemination of the old systems of wood transportation in the rivers, working for recovering and keeping the heritage of this old profession.

For those who would like to know in detail the history of the rafters (Raiers), the museum has a permanent exhibition with two parts: one focused on the Catalan rafters where all the process of the wood trade is explained, from the wood cutting in the Pyrenees until the rafts reached the city of Tortosa, and the other one giving a broad overview of this profession in different countries.

The museum carries out an important research task and has an important archive about the rafters.
