Classic circular route that allows us to visit terrain with very different morphologies and access two of the major giants in the area, Tuc de Mainera (optional in this description) and Montorroio. It is also a good return alternative for the last day of stay at the refuge if we descend from Coma d’Espòs to Sallente.

DESCRIPTION
We leave the Colomina refuge skirting it to the south and in a north-easterly direction towards the Estany de Mar. We cross it and go up gentle slopes towards the pass between Pala Pedregosa and Pic de Mainera. The ascent to the pass gets steeper and the last 50 m exceed 40 degrees. With good snow we could reach it with skis on our feet, but usually we will climb this last section with crampons. From the pass (2720 m) we can continue up the fine ridge to the Tuc de Mainera (2909 m), one of the giants of the area. The descent from the peak, with good snow conditions, can be done by the steep south-east slope.
SAFETY AND PRACTICAL ADVICE
The critical points of the route are found in the sector of the coll and peak of Mainera where the terrain is complex and quite steep. The most exposed sections will require us to take precautions and prepare well for the outing.
