DESCRIPTION
To get to the Filià cabin, you must follow itinerary 3.1 that goes up the forest trail.
Without crossing the river, past the Filià bridge, we go uphill on the left, skirting the young black pine forest in a southerly direction until we reach the Filià lake (2130 m). The views over Tossal de la Costa and Tossal d’Astell 500 m above us are magnificent. From the lake we take a south-west direction going up a small hill until we reach the Mascarell pass (2300 m). Here we find the end of the lift and from where we will enjoy very good views towards the north with Montsent de Pallars as the protagonist.
We descend through the north-facing Obaga de Filià. This terrain is straighter than the uphill one and will require a better level of skiing.
If we go with snowshoes it is advisable to undo the same way up to the cabin.
SAFETY AND PRACTICAL ADVICE
Although most of the ascent is on simple terrain, it is necessary to be careful both on the first slopes after the cabin and especially on the descent from the Coll de Mascarell. The north orientation of the slopes favors the snow to remain dry and cold and problems with slabs can persist longer than on sunny slopes. Special attention should be paid to the exit from the Coll de Mascarell where we may tend to veer too far to the left of the line of pylons and enter Complex terrain.
